Located on a plateau, in the southern part of the Swiss Alps, are two ski resorts, which together form the largest resort in Switzerland and offer the highest percentage of sunny days. For skiers, this is a place that appeals from beginners to the most knowledgeable on the subject.

Crans Montana was home to the World Ski Championship in 1987. It is close to the town of Sion, 105 km from Geneve. Besides being excellent for skiing, it is also ideal for other winter sports.

For those who prefer other types of “sports”, there are also hobbies. The sophisticated boutiques sell all the haute couture brands and the gastronomic enthusiasts have much to be entertained, as all locations are full of gourmet establishments, caver, and restaurants, where delicious regional cuisine and international specialties are served. And of course, the venue also features nightly activities like clubs and casinos.

• Zermatt – Switzerland

This old Swiss village located in the valley, at the foot of the Mont Cervin, surrounded by spectacular mountains, has all the charm of a typical Swiss village, where car traffic is prohibited and transport is made by horses (carriages and carts) and cars electrical installations.

The ski areas, many of them open all year round, are intertwined and it is possible to ski for days without going through the same track twice. It has ski courses, heliskiing, plus a very lively aprés-ski. There are also first-class restaurants and for all uncles of taste.

• Verbier – Switzerland

Considered one of the best ski resorts in Switzerland, it offers ski conditions for everyone, from beginner to expert.

It is the station with the highest tracks in Europe and one of the most emblematic and old. Davos has five ski areas, pleasant and long slopes, and an incredible view of Lake Davos.

The seat of national and international competitions, the city offers permanently lit halfpipe, 2 fun parks with jumps and rails and a boardercross with jumps. For lovers of deep skiing, there is 75 km of slopes.

Visitors can enjoy numerous activities such as ice-skating in Europe’s largest natural ring, visiting the large sports center with an indoor pool, sauna, and athletics track. In addition to going to more than 70 restaurants, of all types and tastes, jazz bars, nightclubs, discos, and museums.

• Gstaad – Switzerland

It is a village of 3,600 inhabitants, in the interior of the canton of Bern.

The typical alpine resort is known for tennis, beach volley, and golf tournaments. In the region, there are about 10 restaurants listed in Gault-Millau, the French guide who is considered a reference in gastronomy.

The city offers luxurious chalets to comfortable hotels, located 52.4 km from Bern Belp Airport and 93.4 km from Geneva Cointrin Airport. What’s more, in the midst of the “Trois Vallées”, framed by stunning scenery, the station is part of the largest ski area in the world, which encompasses over 660 kilometers of interconnected slopes.

Known as the star station, due to the presence of celebrities from all over the world during high ski seasons, it is located 104 km from Geneve and 626 km from Paris (4 hours and a half by TGV), with several daily flights to the major cities of Europe.

• Val D’Isere – France

Almost on the border of Italy, in the mountains of the Savoie region, the small village is considered one of the best ski resorts in Europe.

Without the hustle and bustle of the neighboring stations, Val, as it is affectionately called by its inhabitants, is a place for those who really enjoy snow sports and not for anyone who wants to parade fur coats and Rolex.

The more than 300 miles of marked runs, most intermediate to advanced levels, have a multitude of off-piste areas that attract thousands of skiers and low profile snowboarders. No wonder that in 2009 the world alpine skiing championship was held in its steep mountains.

• Chamonix -France

Situated at the foot of Mont Blanc, Chamonix borders Italy and Switzerland and I had the opportunity to meet.

The station benefits from an exceptional environment. The famous mountaineering site has welcomed visitors for two centuries and is the starting point of many randonnées.

The cosmopolitan city offers an unusual ski area, with possibilities to reach Aiguille du Midi thanks to the cable car for an unforgettable descent.

The city offers museums, paragliding, cinema, library, bowling, disco, and spa.

• Madonna di Campiglio – Italy

Located in a hilly valley in the Brenta Dolomites, 100 km from Bolzano and 3 hours from Verona, the station is officially rated as the most important ski resort in Italy by the quality of its slopes and by the tradition in hosting international winter sports events , such as “World Cup Ski Races” and “Snowboarding Championships”.

• Bonus: Cortina D’Ampezzo – Italy

Surrounded by the rocky cliffs of the Dolomites, the traditional and sophisticated Cortina boasts one of the most animated aprés-Ski in Europe.

In a perfect union between the Italian party spirit, its gastronomy and much charm is the main station of Italy, frequented especially by the elite of the cities of Turin and Milan. With the excellent infrastructure for the practice of winter sports, it hosted the Winter Olympics of 1956.
